Thumbs up from Wexford Walking Tours!

Wexford Walking Tours posted this message on Facebook yesterday. We think it’s worth sharing:

“Yesterday we had a Viking tour with children from Gorey. This involves going across Mary’s Lane which looked brilliant yesterday. litter and graffiti-free. It is our favourite lane in Wexford. We finished up with a picnic in Redmond Park. The weather was fine and the park, too, was litter free and looked beautiful. The children were thrilled, we even looked into St Patrick’s Churchyard and it, too, looked great. There is so much good work going on in this town.”

Invitation to Fettit’s Lane Public Art Project, Thurs. 7th March 2013

departuresevent Wexford Tidy Towns would like to cordially invite you to the opening of “Departures”, a Public Art Project presented by 3rd Year Fine Art, Wexford Campus, IT Carlow. The artists will be transforming the Fettit’s Lane environment, which has been highlighted as a ‘blackspot’ in previous years’ Tidy Towns adjudication reports, using street and wall art.

The theme being used is “Departures” – a topical subject in times when so many are emigrating – using migrating birds extensively in the project to instill a sense of hopefulness for the return of our emigrants.

The project is sponsored by Westgate Design, Centenary Stores, Marlowe Cleaners, Salon Diva, Sharky’s, Hynes’ Jewellers and Green Acres. See the images below for more details.

The official opening of the Project will be at 7pm on Thursday 7th March in Fettit’s Lane, all are welcome to attend.

Wexford Town achieves Bronze in National Tidy Towns Competition!

Delighted to let you all know that we were awarded Bronze today in the ‘G’ Category ( Large Town ) in the National Irish Tidy Towns Awards. We also were awarded 1st Prize in the Gum Litter Task Force Award.

A big THANK YOU to all involved, from the organizing Committee to the hard working Volunteer task force to the increasingly caring and aware residents of Wexford, who have shown by their example, and by their encouragement – 2,157 Facebook followers/friends who are always supportive – that we can make Wexford a cleaner and more beautiful place both to live and to visit.

You can see the full Adjudication Report for Wexford here.

Once again, thank you and congratulations to everyone who played their part!
